A family is one of the first classrooms in which teenagers learn to grow up, while parents are the first teachers in this classroom. In the process of a children's growth, communication is the most fundamental factor, and it is also an important way to foster healthy growth and development. Communication can be involved everywhere: in daily companionship, education, guidance, etc. Effective communication not only allows parents and children to better understand each other and form a consensus, but also allows parents to better guide and support their children's mental health during critical periods. But in real life, things often aren’t so successful. In particular, most parents of teenagers have asked themselves more than once: how should I communicate effectively with my children? Here, we learn strive to discover what types of communication methods are the most effective and most desired by teenagers and their parents as well.
With the support of China Family Newspaper Agency, China Parent Education Research Institute and the Beijing Parenting Education Professional Committee of Chinese Society of Education, CO-HARBOR will hold the second Peer to Peer Action: “Speak Your Heart” on July 30. "Speak Your Heart" offline forum will help parents and children recognize the current mode of communication and existing problems of it, and better understand how to speak and listen in communication. This will help improve the physical and mental health of young people, as well as family relationships in general.
In this forum, we have invited a number of experts, including the director of the China Parent Education Research Institute, intermediate psychotherapist - with a Master’s on mental health counseling from Boston College - and the director of the Student Psychological Development Guidance Center of Tsinghua University. At the same time, we will also invite peers to build a word cloud map consisted of their views of their family communication, by just filling in a word that can describe your communication with your parents. click here to post through the platform and upload a screenshot of your submission below and we will randomly select 30 participants to receive a book about family education by one of our experts.
